This is a local, community-focused, multi-faceted ministry with the intention of showing the love of Jesus Christ through a practical offering of hope. Ministries included are:
First Presbyterian's food pantry is open each Thursday afternoon, 1:30-3:30 PM. The pantry distributes boxes with a variety of non-perishable pantry staples. No application or proof of need necessary.
Assistance with heat and electric bills through administration of grant funds. Clients must have a past due bill and are able to receive assistance once a year. Appointments must be made in advance for Thursday afternoons.
Each Monday at noon, a team of volunteers offers up a home-cooked meal of soup and bread to anyone in the community.
Our SOS team is able to assist with a variety of emergency needs from gasoline to help paying rent. Clients must come to the church office to complete an application before an appointment will be scheduled. Appointments are Thursday afternoons.
Each Friday from 1:30-3:30 p.m. volunteers open the church's shower to be used by any in the community who don't have access to a shower to clean up. Guests are provided with toiletries and a towel.
Each year a team of adults takes a multi-day trip to serve. Sometimes the trip is local, helping with home repairs around our Salida community, sometimes the trip has been within Colorado to communities with high need, some years the team have traveled out of state to assist in clean up and repair work following natural disasters.
