The Lazarus Project
This is a local, community-focused, multi-faceted ministry with the intention of showing the love of Jesus Christ through a practical offering of hope. We are pleased that even during the time of COVID-19, these ministries are considered essential to our Salida community and have continued to serve. Ministries included are:
First Presbyterian's food pantry is open each Thursday afternoon, 1:30-3:30 PM. The pantry distributes boxes with a variety of non-perishable pantry staples. No application or proof of need necessary.
Energy Outreach Colorado
Assistance with natural gas/propane and electric bills through administration of grant funds. Clients must have a past due bill and are able to receive assistance once a year. Appointments must be made in advance for Thursday afternoons.
Stone Soup Cafe
Each Monday at noon, a team of volunteers offers up a home-cooked meal of soup and bread to anyone in the community. Right now, Stone Soup continues by offering take out only.
SOS Emergency Assistance
Our SOS team is able to assist with a variety of emergency needs from gasoline to help paying rent. Clients must come to the church office to complete an application before an appointment will be scheduled. Appointments are Thursday afternoons.
Adult Mission Team
Each year a team of adults takes a multi-day trip to serve. Sometimes the trip is local, helping with home repairs around our Salida community, sometimes the trip has been within Colorado to communities with high need, some years the team have traveled out of state to assist in clean up and repair work following natural disasters.
