Unlike the women whose resistance led to Moses being alive and well, Moses' first act of resistance was an act of violence, an act of murder. As humans, why do we tend to respond to violence with violence? Why do we think violence is an answer to violence? Moses' violence created a crisis in his life. As Moses fled, God provided new community for him. God responded to Moses' violence with saving grace. Who knows whether Moses recognized God's gift of grace; how often is that the case for us?
